The duo formed by Dario Balzan (saxophone) and Francesco Grigolo (organ) was born from the meeting of two musicians and professors active in Italian Conservatories, united by the desire to explore the extraordinary timbral and interpretative possibilities offered by this rare and fascinating instrumental combination.
The artistic project presents a refined and wide-ranging musical journey, capable of crossing different eras and languages. It begins with Pier Damiano Peretti’s organ arrangement of a piece by Girolamo Frescobaldi, followed by the melodic elegance of Guy de Lioncourt and the nineteenth-century atmospheres of Hippolyte Escudié.
Contemporary music is represented by the composer Ignazio Perra with a Sardinian song, leading to the evocative music of Javier Girotto, whose piece recalls Andean atmospheres and blends jazz with South American folk traditions in a new and compelling expressive dimension.
An original and engaging program, in which the sonic depth of the organ and the versatility of the saxophone intertwine, creating a palette of colors, emotions, and impressions ranging from the classical repertoire to the contemporary, in a “timeless dialogue” capable of speaking to every kind of audience.
